Drilled Cylinders

Thousands of possibilities

Our Applications team can help you find the right fit!

Many Applications - Many options

Drilled cylinders are used in many industries including:

  • Pulp and Paper (screening, fractionation, headbox screening, filtration)
  • Food (screening, dewatering)
  • Pigment (filtration)
  • Mineral Processing (screening, filtration)

To determine the exact specifications of a drilled screen cylinder requires knowledge of the process, the quality parameters required, and the equipment – especially the screen rotor. The rotor and cylinder work together to properly separate undesirable particles from a fiber stream in screening or from a liquid in filtration applications.

Cylinder Installation

Designing a cylinder

Important attributes to be considered with a drilled screen cylinder include:

  • Hole size: AFT cylinders are produced with hole sizes ranging from 0.10 to 25 mm (0.004 to 1.0 inch).
  • Hole design: AFT produces holes with straight, conical, step-drilled, cylindrical or countersunk configurations.
  • Surface profile: AFT produces drilled cylinders with a variety of surface profiles (AFT- A, Profile Select, and Select C, D, and F - in addition to many OEM profiles such as Voith V, Lehman, and Microvortex series.
  • Materials of construction: Materials include ferric (410, 430), stainless (304, 316, 316L, 317L, 904L), and super austenitic (254SMO). Other materials can be utilized if required.
  • Breaker bars: Sometimes a breaker or UP element is used in a coarse screening stage in place of a profile.
